Fantastic Hotel

We stayed for 4 nights last week and cannot recommend this hotel enough. The staff were so friendly, professional and efficient. The food from the breakfast to the evening meal was superb, we ate there every evening, trying a different main each time and every one was fantastic. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and completely relaxed. The whole place was so well run, our bedroom was perfect with more than enough room for the three of us. It had great character paired with a modern ensuite which included a separate shower and a large bath should you need to soothe aching muscles after a long day walking! It's location is perfect for exploring the South Downs and the lovely Sussex Coast with lots of attractions within easy reach. Thank you to Debbie for being such a friendly face in the morning and Lois for welcoming us to breakfast , showing us where everything was and taking our order with a smile. We would also like to say a massive thank you to Holly, Tijen, Jodie and Jacob for welcoming us back after hectic days out, for taking the time to chat to us and being interested in our day, for recommending some really great places to visit, serving our food and being able to remember our favourite drinks all with a big smile and whilst making sure that all other guests/customers in the bar/restaurant were also looked after in exactly the same way - we will definitely be back.

Excellent as Always

I've stayed at the Castle Inn on numerous occasions and each time has been wonderful, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable, the food is superb and the staff are warm, friendly and extremely helpful. I highly recommend staying here, I'll be back soon.

Sunny lunch

After a hard mornings shopping in Worthing we needed sustinance which led us to The Castle inn, & enjoyed a lunchtime snack of Brie n Bacon bagette with a shared portion of chips 'to die for' accompanied by two great pints of BrAMBER Ale in the delightfully warm & sunny garden on the first day of real spring weather.
This was followed a week later by a family evening meal on the occaision of my Birthday. The food and service was once again exemplary and made for an extremely enjoyable time.
We will return!

Scrummy food

Stopped for a light lunch in the garden after a walk - food delicious, price reasonable, service excellent ( despite not knowing how to create sangria or having no Pimms), atmosphere in the garden lovely.
Definitely eat here again - atmosphere more modern and comfortable than other local pubs and hotels

Great lunch stop!

We stopped off from our walk with the dogs along The Adur River from Shoreham before returning back to base. We had a sandwich lunch and tea. Everything was nicely presented and freshly prepared, a great lunch! Would consider an evening meal there should the occasion arise after looking at their evening menu. Friendly staff and very pleasant garden to sit in.

Christmas Day Lunch 2016

We had another lovely Christmas Day lunch at The Castle. I've submitted a review via a website link but I want to do another one on this page. The staff excelled themselves yesterday and our lunch for 7 people was exceptional. Lovely atmosphere, great staff and the food was really good especially the vegetarian option. We will be booking for our 3rd Christmas Day lunch for next year without hesitation. Thank you to everyone at The Castle.

Fantastic Sunday lunch

We stumbled across this restaurant today and was immediately welcomed by the friendly staff. We chose to eat the traditional Sunday lunch, but this had a twist...honey glazed veg and the best gravy I have ever tasted, large Yorkshire puddings and melt in the mouth lamb (husband had Beef which was equally good).
The staff were attentive yet relaxed, giving this restaurant a 'nice feel' about it.
Dog friendly too.
Will definitely be returning, well done to all.

Lovely place at fantastic value

This is a lovely welcoming place set in a tranquil spot that just helps melt away the stress with great food and fine ales. The room was fine, clean and particularly cheap given the standard of accommodation. We were travelling around the South Downs doing odd walks and just needed a place to stay without too much research, but this turned out to be a real gem!

"Great location and friendly helpful staff."

We stayed 2 nights in mid August to visit our son in Brighton and wanted to stay out of town.

+ The room was good and the staff all helpful. Breakfast was good and overall the service was good.

- There was a bit of traffic noise in the early morning but this was due to the diversion in place for because of the Shoreham Air Show disaster. I am sure this would not normally be an issue.

"overnight stay while walking south downs way"

We stayed for 1 night as convenient for stopping off from South Downs Way walk.
Lovely village and a good quiet location. The staff were friendly, but the lads on duty in the evening not very clued up, and tables not totally clean. Comfortable stay though and the food was very good, especially the scrambled egg and smoked salmon breakfast.

+ quiet, comfortable, good food

"Great place o stay."

Stayed for three nights.
A little bit of everything on offer pub, restaurant and accommodation in an 'olde world setting'. Owners have invested a lot of time and money and want to get it right.

+ Good parking

"Would like to return asap"

I didn't know the area, but heard about this hotel through another person would recommended them. I would also recommend them, and would like to make an excuse to return again. Friendly on arrival and throughout, really fast service (and the food lives us to the hype), rooms were lovely and I cannot say any fault to be honest. You have to stay and see for yourself as I haven't covered it all here.
